Soup Station

Explore the story behind the creation of the custom-designed Soup Station.

PROJECT NAME

“Soup Station”

BACKSTORY

Our sales representative was approached by a consultant who had recently completed a project for a new restaurant. Initially, the restaurant planned to have only a salad bar. However, shortly before its grand opening, the restaurant decided it needed a Soup Station as well. The existing salad bar showcased a custom laminate finish. Although the Soup Station didn’t require an identical laminate, the restaurant was keen on ensuring it didn’t appear mismatched with the salad bar. To achieve this, we designed the Soup Station with a solid surface black granite countertop to complement the modern aesthetic of the salad bar.

PROJECT NAME

“Motorized Stainless Steel Platform Truck”

BACKSTORY

Our rep was working with a high school in California on a project for utility carts and a motorized breakfast cart. As the project progressed, the high school decided to switch gears. It wanted to modify our 456 Mobile Platform Truck to use instead of utility carts to transport heavy boxes. The school requested the truck be motorized, with the removal of one handle and a height extension of the platform in order to fit the power assist transaxle. Additionally, a welded stainless steel strap was added across the remaining handle to prevent boxes from sliding through. With its durable and easy-to-clean stainless steel welded construction, the Motorized Platform Truck can handle the desired weight capacity with ease.

Outdoor Portable Bar

BACKSTORY

One hotel in Washington, D.C. was looking for a bar that could be kept outdoors but looked upscale and modern for their restaurant. It originally saw our model 76511 Chalet Portable Bar and liked that it was all stainless steel, but wanted it to have a sleek look that was brighter. We used the IPE wood slat concept from that bar and recreated it with HDPE material for the slats.

Seafood Cart

After

Take a closer look at how we modified a Geneva 67105 Daypart Cart and Geneva 70260 Liquor Cart to best fit a restaurant in need of a tableside seafood cart.

PROJECT NAME

“Seafood Cart”

BACKSTORY

Our dealer was working with a restaurant on the East Coast that wanted to do tableside seafood service. It would primarily be used for oyster service, however, it needed to be versatile enough to use for other seafood offerings if needed. They ideally wanted it to be of wood construction and look elegant, but with a limited budget, we had to go back to the drawing board. We were able to combine the look of two standard Geneva models, utilizing a standard laminate that matched the décor to avoid the wood construction and ultimately stay within budget.

Take a closer look at the Silverware Cart we custom-designed to meet the unique needs of a prominent university. Uncover the process behind the creation of this one-of-a-kind cart.

PROJECT NAME

“Silverware Cart”

BACKSTORY

One of our sales reps for our Multiteria brand had been actively collaborating on an exciting project with a notable university. As part of its immediate needs, the university requested a customized Silverware Cart with finishes that would match its upcoming project with Multiteria. To fulfill this requirement, our sales rep reached out to us here at Lakeside.

Utilizing photos of the room featuring the equipment in need of replacing, as well as the preferred finish choices, we were able to create the perfect solution. The sliding shelves of the Silverware Cart were designed with cutouts, enabling easy restocking with prefilled cylinders, while also offering a more ergonomic experience with slide-out functionality. By combining our expertise with the specific requirements of the university, we were able to deliver a custom solution that aligned with its vision.

Outdoor Merchandising Cart

Before
After

Take a closer look at how we modified this Lakeside cart to better serve the needs of both our dealer’s and rep’s customers. With a little ingenuity, we were able to make it the ideal choice for serving beverages and snacks outdoors to K-12 students.

PROJECT NAME

“Outdoor Merchandising Cart”

BACKSTORY

It all started at NAFEM, a trade show for foodservice equipment and supplies, where both a dealer and rep noticed a Lakeside 68322 Merchandising Cart that had potential to be turned into something extraordinary. With a few modifications to the standard design, they knew it could be the perfect application for an end user looking to serve beverages and snacks outdoors. They soon approached us with their idea. From there we began the transformation of the original Lakeside 68322 Merchandising Cart into something versatile and functional for outdoor K-12 foodservice.

Constant evolution. We’ve spent over seven decades perfecting every aspect of utility carts. From standard units, to modified or custom, simply put, it’s been an endless pursuit for perfection.

Here’s a special project out of Texas for a cart modification on the Lakeside 543 Stainless Steel Utility Cart for a non-profit meal delivery program.

PROJECT NAME
Insulated Soup Pot Cart

BACKSTORY

A non-profit meal delivery program in Dallas, TX approached our local rep looking for help for a newly launched program. The program was experiencing quality issues with carts they designed and purchased through another manufacturer. It needed a product that could hold up to the weight capacity, daily usage, and distance traveled to serve large volumes of bulk food.

Because the carts were going to be in direct contact with food, NSF was also a requirement. Our rep was familiar with our heavy-duty utility cart family and knew we offered NSF as a standard version as well; he approached us with the idea of building from our standard model 543 based on the weight capacity required and the size parameters the non-profit requested.

Inclusive K-5 Condiment Cart

Before
After

Discover how we modified a Lakeside Condiment Cart to meet the unique needs of elementary schools, making it an inclusive choice for young students as they effortlessly pump condiments onto their lunch trays.

PROJECT NAME
“Inclusive K-5 Condiment Cart”

BACK STORY
The initial request for this project came from a school district looking for condiment carts that would be easy for students at elementary schools to use. The goal was to provide students with the ability to use the cart independently with an 8″ lower counter height, offer multiple choices, as well as plenty of space to set their tray on while pumping condiments. One critical factor was that the children shouldn’t have to hold their trays while dispensing the condiments. To meet these requirements, the Lakeside 70510 Condi Express Cart was chosen as our starting point for this accessible project.
