Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager is a hands-on shop-floor leader who supports daily production execution, reinforces company values, and helps drive efficiency and schedule attainment. This role requires someone who can balance people-focused leadership with operational discipline, ensuring teams are aligned, engaged, and performing to plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and reinforce a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety
  • Communicate daily and weekly production schedules clearly to shop teams
  • Drive schedule attainment by coordinating labor, materials, and workflow
  • Monitor production performance, efficiency, and labor utilization
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and lead corrective actions
  • Coach and develop employees and leaders to improve performance and consistency
  • Address performance issues and conflicts in a fair, timely, and constructive manner
  • Encourage employee engagement in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with planning, engineering, quality, and purchasing to support on-time delivery
  • Track and report key production metrics related to efficiency, throughput, and schedule adherence

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency and meet production schedules
  • Experience coordinating shop-floor resources and priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, work orders, and schedules
  • Proficiency with basic production tracking and scheduling tools

Preferred Skills

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement leadership experience
  • Experience leading teams through operational change
  • Background in metal fabrication, welding, or machining
